Etude House - Sweet Recipe Chocolate Smudge Liner

Are you sick of eating or seeing chocolate everywhere due to Easter? Well I have a very different and cute chocolate to share with everyone, but sadly it's not edible. I think I am going through a Korean beauty product phase and purchasing products based purely on their cute packaging.

As part of their Sweet Recipe range, Etude House released two gel eyeliners in the form of chocolate! It comes in a small plastic box and the eyeliner itself is of a heart shaped chocolate. Etude House also added a paper wrap to make the whole chocolate idea more realistic.

There are two shades available: 01 Dark Choco Brown and 02 Milk Choco Brown. I purchased Milk Choco Brown from Koreadepart for $5.97 which is reasonably cheap for an eyeliner of high quality. I already own a dark brown gel liner and it leans more towards black so I opted for a lighter brown shade to create a softer and more natural look.

So where is the actual liner you may ask?

At the bottom when you flip over the chocolate! However please don't be like my boyfriend thinking the product is empty/hollow so you end up touching it and getting eyeliner on your finger... My main concern about the plastic packaging is the ability for the lid to tear off. If there's no lid then I'm pretty sure the product will dry out.

As this does not come with a brush, you can use your favourite eyeliner brush - mine is Bobbi Brown's Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush. What I love about this liner is how creamy the texture is and its high pigmentation! The creaminess allows for smooth and easy application, while the colour can also be built up though it is already rich in colour.

To create a softer look, you can easily smudge the liner before it sets as shown in picture below! You don't have to worry about getting panda eyes as this liner will not budge once it's set - great for those with oily eyelids or your eyes get watery.

I haven't found anything to fault this yet but it feels like a much cheaper version of Bobbi Brown's infamous Long-wear Gel Eyeliner which has been my favourite liner up until now. Etude House has delivered once again another cute yet excellent product.

Have you tried any products from the Sweet Recipe collection, and if so, which is your favourite?

Sorry for my lack of update lately but I've been addicted to playing Kairosoft games and failed attempts to start my assignment. Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway which is ending in exactly two weeks!!

  11. I've been back and forth about whether to get this! Nice to know it doesn't smudge after it sets - that's my main concern.

I've just focused on getting the lippies, blushers and nail polishes in the Sweet Recipe range so far.

Will have to wait until after my shopping ban to get this T_T

    Thanks for the review ^^

  26. These are so cute! Like you, though, I'd be scared of the lid snapping off, as I've found gel eyeliners dry out really quickly if the lid isn't on rightly.
